Karen has illustrated numerous books and publications, her most recent, The Mitt and Minn series, written by Kathy-jo Wargin for Mitten Press. This is a 4 book series about a pair of mice traveling throughout 4 of the mid western states. In the fall of 2007, a new series will begin. “Nicolas, a New England Field Mouse - A Massachusetts Tale”, written by Peter Arenstam and published by Mitten Press, will travel throughout New England. It will be a chapter book filled with pencil illustrations. The first in the series will be based in Massachusetts. Nicolas will then have adventures through Maine, New Hampshire and Vermont. Karen’s other children’s books include “G is for Granite” a New Hampshire Alphabet Book, “Primary Numbers” a New Hampshire Numbers Book, both written by Marie Harris and published by Sleeping Bear Press and provided an illustration for “P is For Passport” a World Alphabet Book also published by Sleeping Bear Press.

Karen has won numerous awards including the state competition for the New Hampshire “Heirloom Birth Certificate.” Anyone in born in New Hampshire from 1946 on can order one. Her graphic design for the book “Preserving Old Barns,” co-written by UNH’s John Porter and Francis Gillman, won a national honor for both content and design. Karen is currently designing another book for John Porter, “The History and Economics of the New Hampshire Dairy Industry.” She has also designed and illustrated “The Wisdom of Small Farms and Local Food: Aldo Leopold’s Land Ethic and Sustainable Agriculture” written by John Carroll. She is currently illustrating and designing the sequel, to be published in 2007.

Karen works in several mediums, such as pen and ink, oil, pastel and watercolor. Her realistic landscapes capture her surroundings, from country landscapes to active cityscapes. Being a mother of two young boys as well as a children’s book illustrator, Karen also provides custom paintings for your home.

Karen lives in East Andover, New Hampshire with her husband Jeff, and her two sons, Tyler and Todd, and a lively pair of pet mice.
